What is the time to first passage rate for college-level mathematical proofs in class?
I have a few classes in higher mathematical division under my belt. I have to work harder than others, and when I do, I decent and even good grades. The evidence of another side is killing me. I have never put so much into something for so little result. Is this an indication that I should do something else?
To do mathematics is to prove / disprove things … What do you mean by upper division math classes if you do not rely on evidence? On the other hand, the evidence is not easy in the sense that you can not prove anything without a good amount of work. Some evidence have taken me several hours to do, especially when I was just learning how to think about them. Should you do something else if? I do not know – how long do you work with proof?

The Proof (Nova) [VHS] $19.95 Eureka! For Princeton math whiz Andrew Wiles, tackling an equation is like groping around in a dark mansion, finding the light switch, and suddenly seeing, with utter clarity, where you are. But in Wiles’s case, the mathematical challenge of his childhood–proving Fermat’s Last Theorem, a famous enigma that had stumped experts for three centuries–would take eight years of seclusion. With Wile’s a… |

Math Proofs Demystified $7.39 Almost every student has to study some sort of mathematical proofs, whether it be in geometry, trigonometry, or with higher-level topics. In addition, mathematical theorems have become an interesting course for many students outside of the mathematical arena, purely for the reasoning and logic that is needed to complete them. Therefore, it is not uncommon to have philosophy and law students grap… |
