At what age do children start to do math?

My 4 years old, is autistic and differs greatly in number, so that in fact he begins to addition and subtraction. Now he does not know all the combinations, but he knows that 10 + 3 = 13 (and others). I think if he continues to work on it, he will learn in no time. (He's recongnized letters and numbers from 2 to 2.5 years). What is the age usually when children learn and understand more and subtraction?

In our school district, they work on addition and subtraction in schools by the second class, just beginning to introduce the concept of multiplication at the end of the second year. Some children understand more sooner than others. Some naturally extrapolate from further propagation. Some need more help on the road. In our region, K their principal objective is to put the children to understand numbers and what they represent. Then, in first year, they focus on concepts Addition / subtraction. And then in second year, they really push the kids to be able to make a simple addition / subtraction quickly, simply Learn the facts from memory rather than stopping to work effectively with the problem. Children need to know how to do both – Understand the concept even addition and subtraction, but then they also need to know the answers simply by rote memory, so they can work quickly and move on to multiplication and division. And, of course, because children learn together at different levels, some children advanced already working on multiplication / division into classes of first and second. Your son is fine if the understanding of concepts 4!
